The Pet Project Malaysia 2011, presented by Sabrina Saw in association with The British International School of Kuala Lumpur, is a huge charity event to take place on 7th January, 2012 to raise awareness and funds for animal welfare in Malaysia. This event is supported by The Department of Veterinary Services (Ministry of Agriculture & Agro-based Industries Malaysia) and the beneficiaries of the event include the following NGO’s: PAWS, SPCA Selangor, Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better, AnimalCare, Paws Mission, H.O.P.E., Save a Stray, SCRATCH, Independent Pet Rescuers and Zoo Negara. All proceeds will be collected and shared between the NGO’s in an agreed tier-system (with the exception of Zoo Negara’s own donations collected).
This is a non-profit event.
In hopes of bringing awareness to the cause of animal welfare, we have organized a 12-hour “Get Active” marathon of dance, fitness and sports-based master classes to go from 11am to 11pm on the day of the event, at The British International School of Kuala Lumpur. These master classes will feature the industries’ best global presenters from Hong Kong, Australia, Brazil, Norway, The United States of America, United Kingdom, South Africa, Singapore and Malaysia. By getting active, we aim to utilize the power of positivity, and raise awareness for the cause in a healthy and exciting way. The master classes are open to all levels and ages and will consist of an assortment of preferences including: Football Focus Asia Football Clinic, Yoga & Core Strength for Golfers, Les Mills Programs (Sh’bam & BodyJam) and Freestyle Dance and Fitness Programs such as Cardio Dance, djRAW, Video Dance, Hip Hop, Salsa Slam, Jazz The Funk, Tribal Hip Hop, Dance Fusion Hi-Lo, etc. More details on the classes and presenters are available at www.thepetprojectmalaysia.org. We will also be featuring many of Malaysia’s rising young stars in our highly anticipated performances between our master classes. All master classes and performances on schedule have been “blocked” into certain habitats (i.e., “Grasslands Block” or “Urban Block”). These blocks serve as a fun way for our participants to learn more about the relevant animals in each habitat while getting physical.
The Pet Project Malaysia’s main event will run alongside with many other activities for all ages – this event has something for everyone.
For our younger crowd, a sports inflatables carnival will take place on the top floor of the school (Futsal and Playground floor) where face painters, ball jugglers and clowns will be. Rugby enthusiasts can practice their drills with some of Selangor’s best rugby players by donating a fee per session. Our NGO booths will also be set up on this floor so that our guests get the opportunity to meet these organizations to learn more about them [and also meet their animals]! We invite the public to donate pet foods, blankets, pet supplies, etc., to our participating NGO’s by bringing them to the event.
Football fans will have the opportunity to contribute to “Asia’s Largest Football Card Montage” to take place on the campus tennis courts. Sports marketing company Football Focus Asia will host a 45 minute football workshop including, warm ups, skill zones and an indoor test match (running in the main event of the day). Supporting a holistic approach to sports development Football Focus Asia will also hold sports nutrition classes, giving kids the best foundation for growth of a healthy lifestyle.
Those more adventure-inclined can literally “Climb for a Life” by rock climbing at RM1/ climb in support of animal welfare while those wanting to learn how to make music with your body can attend a 2-hour Rhythm Tap Workshop by Jojo Struys.
There will be plenty of opportunities to purchase items from the event F&B booths, merchandise booths and the silent auction (with limited edition items donated by Taylor Made Adidas, authentic sports memorabilia by Football Focus, hotel packages from DoubleTree by Hilton, golf packages from Citygolf Malaysia, spa packages by The Club at The Saujana, authentic antique furniture from Asian Tigers, Rebecca Duckett Original Art, and many many more exciting items up for bids).
